Switch Days: Switch days equalize prep, supervision, and time spent with each class over the course of the year.
In an LTO, you must be aware of switch days.
If you only work Thursday afternoons, but a given Thursday is following a Friday schedule, you would not be working. If you only work Monday mornings and a Wednesday is following a Monday schedule, you are expected to attend and work.
Exception to the rule: if your LTO is covering a part time medical leave for a contract teacher, you DO NOT follow switch days. If the teacher you are replacing has an accommodation stating that the teacher needs Fridays off to have a 3-day weekend, then you always work Fridays, period. If a Tuesday is a switch Friday, you do not go in. If a Friday is following a Monday schedule, you do go in. This may mean some adjustment to the classes you see, especially if you’re in a preparation time generating LTO. Switch days do not apply to LTOs generated by medical leaves.
Check with your Administrator to confirm whether or not switch days apply to you.
